TIPS FOR THE PERFECT BBQ
How you set up your BBQ stand can make or break your barbecuing experience. If you want to get the most out of your barbecuing experience, from food to friends, there are tips you should keep in mind before and during the festivities. The following will ensure that you have a great time this summer!
1) Check if your BBQ is in working condition!
The first step to having a barbecue is checking if you have one ready to use. If you are lucky enough to have your BBQ, you should check it over and ensure that it works well. Also, check if all of your BBQ tools are in good condition. These will be essential for a successful cookout. It’s also worth making sure that there is plenty of gas or charcoal for your grill, so you don’t run out at an inconvenient time. It can also be worth getting some spare fuel when things go wrong and some run out during cooking. Keep an eye on how much fuel there is left, so you don’t run out when guests arrive or, worse still, halfway through cooking something!
2) Clean it
We’re not just talking about cleaning your grill after each use. Most experts recommend a thorough, deep-clean of your grill at least once every month or two, depending on how often you use it and how quickly food debris builds up. The easiest way to clean your grill is with a wire brush made especially for grills—and another scrubber that’s both bristle and soft-bristle so you can give hard-to-reach places a good scouring.
3) The 4 Must-Haves For Barbecuing
Before choosing all of your favourite grilling accessories, you first need to know what they are. Here are 4 must-haves:
- The grill—it’s a no-brainer! Whether you like charcoal, gas, or electric grills, make sure it is in top shape before you fire it up. No matter what kind of grill you have, the fuel will need some type of fuel. Charcoal and wood chips are great choices if you want that smoky flavour. Propane gas and natural gas are more convenient options.
 - The meat thermometer—this is an essential tool for knowing when your food has reached its ideal temperature so that it’s cooked just right. Meat thermometers range from simple dial models to digital ones with timers and alarms that alert you when your food has reached its ideal temperature, so there’s one out there for every budget and cooking style.
 - The spatula—don’t forget about your utensils! This is another item that doesn’t necessarily require a lot of bells and whistles but needs to be sturdy enough to handle flipping burgers and turning hot dogs.

4) Keep it Safe
Safety is always a top priority, so make sure to get any necessary permits (if cooking outdoors and not in your home) and other licensing requirements before holding your event. Once you’ve gotten all of your paperwork in order, ensure you have everything else you need to host a safe and successful party. This includes fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and any special equipment needed to handle food-safety issues. The key is making sure you’re prepared before throwing your event; from there, it should go off without a hitch!
5) Food / meat preparation
Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get the meat just right. Ideally, start the meat preparation the day before to make sure you have marinaded and rubbed to perfection!
